Welcome

If you're interested in conscious living, then likely you're just as equally interested in Zen but simply not knowingly interested.

Usually Zen is associated with Japanese culture and religious or Buddhism practice, but true Zen (or at least the way this site uses the term) is emphasizing the value of conscious living.

Zen and conscious living come together and go hand-in-hand. Hence, conscious living without Zen is a huge oversight and vice-versa because these are not two.

"Conscious Flex: Zen & Conscious Living" is designed to offer a partnership of how these seemingly two are actually one movement.

Zen is the foundational spaciousness or presence from which conscious living derives. In the same manner that an artist, inventor or intuitive actions come from the stillness in the silence of non-movement.

In other words, Zen is a resting in the powerful space of not thinking about thought, not doing anything about doing, not trying to be the solver or understander, the knower collector but simply allowing the intelligence of life to flow through you and as you.

What is described can be thought of as meditation or accessing our intuition, but it's actually just natural living.

Often you will see kids in a natural resting space or presence and we tell them "snap out of it" because we think they are in "lala land" or "fantasy land" and not paying attention but actually they are simply being completely present with what is. It's natural to just rest and be, that's the flow from which insight and wisdom arises from.

Hence, conscious living is also the natural flow of how life organically expands upon itself. Consequently, conscious living is Zen living, when it's pure and without conceptual overlays.

Enjoy!
  • The Thought Created self, Trying to Become More Than Thought

The 'problem' with pointing, is that it always implies to the mind that something needs to be done about 'something else' in order to 'get' what is being pointed at. Here is a list of frequently asked questions that this article will attempt to answer:

Do thoughts create the reality that I am experiencing?
If I am everything, then I created all of this reality, right?
Is this reality all an illusion?
Once enlightenment is experienced, does reality change?
How do I live more in the moment?

How do I let go of my past and see them as nothing but stories?
How do I become more unconditionally loving?
Hoe do I become more aware?
How do I become more closer to enlightenment?
How can I have more of an innocent look on life, to see this?
How do I become more connected to who I really am?
How do I see through more illusions?
How do I see more of the absolute?
How do I access more meditation while living my waking life?
How do I remember more of my true self?
How do I see more consciousness?
How do I become more sensitive to awareness?
How can I become more happy?
How do I see more oneness?
How do I remove noise to be more in silence?
How do I become more of the witness and less of the self?
How do I become less greedy?
How do I drop all beliefs?
How do I become less mean?
How do I become less guilty?
How do I become less dualistic?
How do I become less logical (so true nature can be seen)?
How do I see less suffering?
How do I remove concepts from the mind?
How do I stop believing stories?
How do I stop believing thoughts?
How can I see no distinction from subject verse object?
How can I be less of the small self?
How do I drop the sense of doership?
How do I vanish the ego?
How do I get rid of baggage?
How do I have less memory?
How do I become less religious?
    How do I drop identity?
How do I get rid of separation?
How do I stop taking things personal?
How do I get rid of myself so I can see others as me?
How do I be less of a worrier and see more of things as not mattering?

    Becoming Questions
Most of these questions arises out the idea about becoming less or more of something (the rest of the questions will be answered by the end of this article), yet there is no becoming. You can not ever become more loving or less greedy (or anything else that thought can think of). Nothing needs to be changed because nothing ever changes. You can not create more of one thing and less of another thing, ever.

    Why not?

Because there is no past that connects events. The only reason thought would ever think that it needs to become less or more of something, is because it believes that the thought-created-past is what makes up the present moment. For thought to believe that it is greedy, it must be looking at past situations as if they apply right now.

"I hurt this person a year ago by taking more for myself!", "Then a month ago, I preformed a greedy act of cutting that person off in traffic because my job is more important than where they were going!", "And about a week ago, I bought myself a sandwich, when I knew that homeless person hasn't even ate for days!", "All these past events means I am a very greedy person, I need to become less greedy!".

The fact is that the past is die and gone. You can never get the past back because it's no more real or unreal than anything else. The past is stuck in the past as nothing more than a memory. The only way to bring the past back up as something real today, is to believe a thought about the past. Who you are right now is not tied to the past. Are you performing something you would consider greedy right now? This moment means nothing more than how you interpret it, but you are not interpreting it, thought is. Yet it seems thoughts have the ability to interpret the now and think thoughts of being right (whatever that is) with another thought about the first thought that thought had.

In other words, you are not choosing to believe thoughts or not. The self that you claim yourself to be, is only thought claiming thought with another thought. The self is nothing more than layers and layers of thoughts (yet in this moment, only one thought happens at a time). Now saying that, thought will think: "Well how do I undo all the layers of thought?" But that is nothing more than thought thinking it must do something to get rid of itself.

Thought has nothing to do. All that is happening here, is happening, and that is it. This moment seems to change based on how thought interprets it, then believing itself about what it is interpreting.

    Answering All the Other Questions

All the questions at the beginning of this article, are questions that thought thinks when it hears this pointing. There is nobody here or there to care what thoughts are doing, what thoughts seem to create, or how thoughts interpret the now. Thoughts are thinking thoughts and thought thinking about what thoughts thought to think.

The layers of thoughts are no problem. There is no problem with anything. The thoughts don't have to figure anything out or see through itself as thoughts. The thoughts are no different than a cloud arising in the sky, a car moving down the street, the hum of the fan, the bird singing in 'the background', the body feeling tired, or anything else that can be observed.

What is happening is happening as this now and the only way to separate or observe something being different, is thought thinking that what is happening is different from this or that (this or that is just more thoughts creating the idea of this or that). Whatever is arising, is arising and it's all here as what it is and nobody is here to know what this is, but thought seems to think it knows. Thought has infinite thoughts about what thought thinks this is.

There is no difference between what is observing (whatever observing is) and what is being observed (whatever the so-called observer is seemly observing), until a thought thinks and thinks itself to be thinking what it thought; as being a thought as a self. Yet there is nothing wrong with thought doing this, thought thinks, that's what it does and that is what is happening. There is nobody here to even know what a thought is or how to interpret thought or if thought is any different than anything else.

What is happening is just this and there is nobody here who can know if this is even happening at all. What does it mean for something to happen or not happen? What is the difference between noise or silence? There is no way to decide or answer any question that arises because the only thing that can pretend to know is a thought, the only thing that can ask a question is a thought (if it can be said to be a thing at all), the only way to interpret anything is through thought, and thought is only whatever it is. Who can know what thought is without another thought about what it is?

Whatever this is, whatever is arising, whatever is happening is whatever it is (if one can say it is even a happening) and there is no way what-so-ever to ever solve this mystery, except with a thought, but who cares if thought does that?

So whatever thought is arising, that is what is arising now. Who cares what is arising now? Thought seems to care, but is there really a who in thought? This is just the extraordinary mystery, that has an ordinary weirdness to it. The unfamiliar familiarity of it, yet it's not even that because that is only an interpretation of this mystery. Nothing can be said about this, that is accurate or true. Nothing can solve this mystery because this is what it is, as it is.

    It's All Stories
Pointing is nothing more than adding another story to this mystery by talking about whatever this is. Anything that can be said is just a story and no story is more valid than another other story. No opinion is better than another opinion, no belief is closer than another belief, no concept is ever more or less than another concept, no view is any more correct than any other view, nothing arising is better than anything else arising. Opinions, beliefs, concepts, views, etc.. nothing but stories (stories are thought created).

Therefore, tell all the stories you want, believe any story, fall in love with stories, hold stories close, create a story that you will have no stories, or anything else that arises for you because the you that you think you are, is just a story (you) adding a story ('something else' other than a so-called you).

    The Story of Oneness
Oneness is just a story that arises when all the interpretations are seen through. Seeing through all the interpretations is yet another story, it doesn't solve the mystery, it doesn't solve anything. It seems to make life more simpler, but simpler is just a story. Simpler is just a opinion that whatever this is can be said as an interpretation to be simpler, usually this arises as an idea that whatever this is can be compared to something else called difficult, but difficult is yet another interpretation about this, as if this can be something and as if this something can be compared to a so-called something else.

It seems to make life less painful when interpretations drop, but life less painful is just another story. Even the story that whatever this is, is a life; is a story. Even that what this is can be something painful, is just a concept being interpreted as pain. Even having less is an idea that whatever this is, can be less or more of whatever this is; is an interpretation by thought that whatever this is can be interpreted as something.

Therefore, the story that whatever this is, can't be said to be anything, other than whatever the hell this is; is just a story about whatever the hell this mystery is. Whatever story can be had about this, can't explain this.

The Story of You (the self)

Thought can only ever create more thought. In fact, thought doesn't even know what the hell it is because there is nobody here to know what thought is. Yet thought thinking creates thought stories. The biggest story thought has created, is the story of self. In order for thought to know what thought is, thought created a thought box. A pattern of thoughts that does nothing more than pointing to more thoughts. Now thought can think thoughts of a self. The thought created self. Thought created you. 'You' is nothing more than a collection of patterned thoughts, that over time thought started to believe thought.

    The Story of Beliefs
A belief is nothing more than a huge collection of thought after thought that no longer has to think certain thoughts to be convinced. Thought is quite certain that the self that thought created is more than just thought. Thought believes thought to be a self, which translates into: you.

The Story of Thought Created Identities
Now the you of thoughts can identity with more thoughts that don't look like thoughts. The identities are infinite. Thought says to thought (remember 'I' is always being used as nothing more than thought): "I am a mother"(thought is something a concept that thought created call mother), "I am a man"(thought is thinking thought to be something it created as a so-called man), "I am a nurse" (thought referring to thought as the thought: nurse), "I am in pain" (thought is in something that it thought up: pain), "I am the creator of my reality" (thought is the thought-concept: creator. Thought creating more thought), "I can think more thoughts to create what I want" (thought can think more thoughts to so-called create what thought so-called wants), "I am spiritual" (thought thinking thoughts as being 'spiritual' thoughts), "I am a Christian" (thought thinking that thought can be something other than thought).

Can you see how silly the idea of the thought created 'I' is? Who is this that is reading this, more thought? What else could this be, but more thought? Could it be just a mystery?

    The Story of Judgment
Not only is the 'I' thought created, but now that thought has an identity. Thought can now identify the thought created self with more thoughts that seem to be outside thinking. "I am a spiritual person, but that person out there is not" (thought thinking that there is such a thing as a spiritual thought as compared to not a spiritual thought), "I am positive person and that person out there is not positive" (thought thinking that there are levels of thinking that one thought is good and another thought is bad).

Whatever the thoughts are, it's just a thought and no thought is ever better or worse than any other thought (Opinions, beliefs, concepts, views, identities, stories, etc.. nothing but thoughts about whatever the hell this is).

Whenever thought has an identity, thought always has thoughts of thinking thoughts that look like similarities and differences between so-called things (things are more thoughts). In this way thought can seemly know whatever the hell it is, through a comfortable identity and whatever the hell everything else is because of the seemly identity it apparently has.

The Story of the Enlightened Awareness
All that can said about whatever this is, is that whatever this is seems to be aware (whatever this awareness is) of whatever this is. Whatever this is that is aware, is aware of whatever this is. There is no difference between whatever is being aware of this and whatever this is because there is no way to know what either one is (or to know even if there is a difference between them or if there is a them or two things at all) and without knowing what anything is, it all seems to be one thing or no-thing, or all things, or both, or either, or whatever is arising is arising as this. This is it, whatever this is, whatever is arising without interpretation about what this is; this is said to be the concept/idea/story of enlightenment.

Knowing the mind of thoughts, the next thought that will arise is "How can I see what this is, without interpreting it?" and thought can't seem to see that interpreting this, is still 'part' of whatever this is. Whatever this is seems to be interpreted and that is this too. Whatever arises in this, is this, as it is; whatever this is. So the story of thoughts go on, while it is seemly chasing after another story called enlightenment. The cosmic joke.
